Teenager Steals Atlanta Ambulance for a Joy Ride
Atlanta – EMT’s responding to an emergency call left their ambulance running while rushing into an apartment to offer medical assistance. When they returned to the parking lot several minutes later they discovered that the vehicle had been stolen. Atlanta Police found the Grady Memorial Hospital Ambulance two blocks away where it had plunged down an embankment.
Witnesses report seeing a 12-13 year old boy jumping from the vehicle before it wrecked. Police suspect the vehicle was stolen on a dare, or for a joy ride as no medical supplies where missing and the keys were still in the ignition.
Lt. Antonio Clay of the Atlanta Police Department stated that the vehicle was equipped with an on board camera and the police will know will have a good identity of the teenage suspect in 36-48 hours. The ambulance sustained minor front end damage.
